JURA A VESSEL OF 792 TONS  AND WAS CHARTERED BY THE ALBION LINE FOR THE FOLLOWING VOYAGE

 ON 23RD SEPTEMBER 1858 SHE ARRIVED IN PORT CHALMBERS, DUNEDIN CARRYING 375 PASSSENGERS FROM GLASGOW SCOTLAND.CAPTAIN CHAMBERS BEING IN COMMAND

SHE SAILED FROM DEAL ON 3RD OCTOBER AND LEFT START POINT ON 6TH OCTOBER 1858 AND ARRIVED IN AUCKLAND 16TH JANUARY 1859 CARRYING 87 PASSENGERS

SHE LEFT LAMLASH BAY ON 30TH JUNE 1862 AND ARRIVED AT PORT CHALMBERS ON 6TH OCTOBER 1862

 SHAW SAVILL & CO CHARTERED HER ALSO AROUND 1860 I KNOW THEY CHARTERED HER MORE THAN ONCE SO THIS MEANS IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE LAST TWO VOYAGES TO NEW ZEALAND  WERE ON A  SAVILL CHARTERER AS SHE ONLY EVER VISITED NEW ZEALND 3 TIMES

JURA WAS BUILT IN 1875 AND LAUNCHED ON 28TH AUGUST 1875 SHE WAS A THREE MASTED IRON VESSEL OF 1,200 TONS BUILT BY CONNEL'S OF GLASGOW

HER FIRST OWNERS WERE SANDBACH TINNE & CO OF LIVERPOOL AND SHE HAD BEEN REGISTERED IN LIVERPOOL

IN 1882 SHE WAS OWNED BY A T PARKER AND IN 1901 SHE WAS OWNED BY RAFFAELE FERRARO OF NAPLES

IN 1908 SHE FOUNDERED - HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD A PROBLEM OF LIMA


  SHE WAS NEVER CHARTERED BY SHAW SAVILL OR THE ALBION LINE AND NEVER TRADED TO NEW ZELAND - FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY
