THERE WERE THREE VESSELS NAMED VICTORY WITH SHAW SAVILL INVOLVEMENT,ALL CHARTERED VESSELS.

THE FIRST VICTORY WAS A BARQUE OF 579  TONS BUILT IN 1847 BUILT IN SUNDERLAND BY  HILL'S AND SHE WAS OWNED BY G BOWDEN

SHE WAS SENT DOWN TO NEW ZEALAND BY WILLIS AND GANNIN 1848.SHE WAS COMMANDED BY CAPTAIN W GREGORY

VICTORY

 VICTORY WAS AN IRON HULL VESSEL OF 1,148 TONS

SHE DID HER MAIDEN VOYAGE FROM GLASGOW TO PORT CHALMERS IN 1863.

ON ARRIVAL WAS QUARANTINED, DUE TO ONE CASE OF SMALL POX AND SEVERAL CASES OF MEASLES,THERE HAVING BEEN THREE DEATHS ONBOARD DUE TO  THE LATTER ILLNESS.MOST OF THE PEOPLE LANDED ON GOAT ISLAND,250 WOMEN AND CHILDREN QUARANTINED ON THE HULKS THOMAS AND HENRY.SOME OF THE YOUNGER MEN BEING QUARANTINEDR ON AN UN-NAMED NEARBY ISLAND.SHE DID THREE TRIPS FOR SHAW SAVILL IN TOTAL THE TRIP DOWN TO PORT CHALMERS AND A TRIP TO AUCKLAND AND ANOTHER TRIP TO LYTTLETON.

 

VICTORY / CONTANZA

 VICTORY   WAS THE FIRST SHAW SAVILL & ALBION CHARTERED STEAMSHIP FOR THE DIRECT SERVICE.

SHE  WAS  BUILT IN 1882 BY RICHARDSON DUCK  IN STOCKTON FOR MCINTRE BROTHERS & CO, OF NEW CASTLE. SHE WAS A SCREW STEAM VESSEL OF 2,848 TONS. HER ENGINES WERE MADE BY BLAIR & CO OF STOCKTON

 IN 1883 SHE DID THREE RETURN VOYAGES FOR SHAW SAVILL FROM LONDON TO PORT CHALMERS, LYTTLETON AND WELLINGTON .  I ALSO HAVE HER AS HAVING BROUGHT OUT 445 PASSENGERS FROM PLYMOUTH TO DUNEDIN

IN 1896 SHE WAS SOLD TO AN ITALIAN CONCERN ( A.MANCINI )  AND RE-NAMED COSTANZA. SHE THEN RAN WITH THE OTHER CHARTERED VESSEL BOMBAY AND SHAWSAVILLS IONIC,COPTIC AND DORIC.
