MERCHANT PRINCE / SYCAMORE /  WALLSINGHAM / ELIAS L / JARA / MELTEMI / TEMI

BUILT IN 1950 AS THE 'SYCAMORE ' FOR THE JOHNSTON-WARREN LINE BY THE BURNTISLAND SHIPBUILDING CO, SHE WAS 3,343 TONS. IN 1955 SHE WAS CHARTERED TO WATTS & CO AND RE-NAMED ' WALLSINGHAM '. IN 1957 WHEN HER CHARTER FINISHED SHE WAS RE-NAMED ' SYCAMORE ' AND RETURNED TO THE JOHNSTON-WARREN LINE. IN 1965 SHE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE PRINCE LINE AND WAS RE-NAMED ' MERCHANT PRINCE ' ( SHE WAS IN FACT THE SISTER SHIP TO THE AFRIC, WHICH HAD BEEN BUILT FOR PRINCE LINE BUT IMMEDIATELY CHARTERED TO SHAW SAVILL & ALBION , LATER BECOMING PRINCE LINE'S SCOTTISH PRINCE . THE AFRIC WAS ALSO SISTER SHIP TO THE EGYPTIAN PRINCE, MAKING SYCAMORE A SISTER TO HER ALSO )  IN 1968 SHE WAS SOLD TO THE KALDELION SHIPPING COMPANY WHO RE-NAMED HER ' ELIAS L '. IN 1973  SHE WAS PURCHASED BY A CYPRIOT COMPANY ( MACCOMAR ) WHO RE-NAMED HER ' JARA '. IN 1975 SHE WAS SOLD TO ANOTHER CYPRIOT COMPANY  ( MELTECO NAVIGATION  ) WHO RE-NAMED HER ' MELTEMI '. BUT SHE WAS MANAGED BY THE FULMAR NAVIGATION COMPANY. IN 1977 SHE WAS CHARTERED TO THE GREEN  SPIRIT INC ( CYPRUS ) BUT STILL UNDER THE MANAGEMENT OF FULMAR NAVIGATION. IN 1979 SHE WAS SCRAPPED IN PAKISTAN.
