PEMBROKE CASTLE WAS BUILT IN 1863. SHE WAS A THREE MASTED IRON SHIP OF 1,222 TONS BUILT BY ROBERT NAPIER & SONS OF GOVAN AND OWNED
BY DONALD CURRIE & CO OF LONDON AND REGISTERED IN LIVERPOOL.
SHE WAS SOLD IN 1883 TO CHARLES BARRIE OF DUNDEE AND RE-NAMED GLASGOW STILL REGISTERED IN LIVERPOOL.

SHE SANK ON 25TH DECEMBER 1893 HAVING TO BE BEING ABANDONED AFTER BEING DEMASTED ON A VOYAGE FROM CARRIZAL FOR MIDDLESBROUGH CARRYING A
CARGO OF MANGANESE


ON SATURDAY 4TH FEBRUARY 1888 SHE LEFT MONTE VIDEO BOUND FOR PORT AUGUSTA ARRIVING ON TUESDAY 10TH APRIL 1888

SHE LEFT BUENOS AYRES IN 1890 ARRIVING IN PORT AUGUSTA ON THE 14TH DECEMBER 1890

THESE TWO VOYAGES WERE AS THE 'GLASGOW'

SHE WAS OWNED BY DONALD CURRIE.SHE WAS SOLD TO THE TURKISH GOVERNMENT IN 1906.IN AUGUST 1915 SHE WAS SUNK BY RUSSIAN
WARSHIPS OF SAMSOUN.

ROCK ON THE S.AFRICAN COAST NEAR THE FROEN RIVER AND BECAME A TOTAL LOSS ON 26TH DECEMBER 1890
THE COURT OF INQUIRY THOUGHT THE CAPTAINS EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE VESSEL WAS LOST WAS UN-ACCEPTABLE AND HE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF
NAVIGATING IN A NEGLIGENT AND UN-SEAMAN LIKE MANNER. HIS MASTERS CERTIFICATE WAS SUSPENDED FOR SIX MONTHS
