MERRY ENGLAND WAS A VESSEL OF 1,048 TONS SHE HAD BEEN  IN 1856 AT WATERFORD IN WHITE'S YARD .SHE WAS BUILT FOR AND OWNED BY JAMES BEAZLEY OF LIVERPOOL.

HER NAME WAS SPELT 'MERRIE ENGLAND' ON OCCASION

SHE WAS CHARTERED BY PILKINGTON & WILSON FOR A VOYAGE FROM LIVERPOOL TO MELBOURNE. SHE LEFT LIVERPOOL 20TH OCTOBER 1856 ARRIVED 16TH JANUARY 1857 WITH CAPTAIN WILLIAM KELLY IN COMMAND

SHE SAILED FROM LONDON BOUND SYDNEY 2ND JUNE 1863 WITH CAPTAIN THOMAS K LOWRY IN COMMAND

SHE MADE MAY VOYAGES FROM LIVERPOOL  TO MELBOURNE RETURNING TO LIVERPOOL VIA SYDNEY AND SHANGHAI

SHE WAS SOLD TO CAPTAIN KELLY IN 1867

 SHE WAS ABANDONED IN 1867 WHILST OFF CAPE HORN WHEN ON VOYAGE FROM THE CHINCHA ISLANDS WITH A CARO OF GUANO

MERRIE WENGLAND WAS BUILT IN 1883 BY RAMAGE & FERGUSON LTD AND WAS OWNED BY THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT SHE WAS A IRON YACHT OF 260 TONS.

SHE WAS LOST IN A FIRE ON 17TH MARCH 1919 AT PORT MORESBY
