MARGARET GALBRAITH WAS AN IRON SHIP BUILT IN GLASGOW FOR JAMES GALBRAITH ( ALBION LINE )  BY ROBERT DUNCAN IN 1868, SHE WAS A VESSEL OF 728 TONS.

HER SHIP MASTERS AT SOME STAGE  WERE CAPTAIN COWAN THEN LATER IT WAS CAPTAIN S HOLM

IN 1873 SHE SOLD TO P HENDERSON ( ALBION LINE )

SHE WAS SOLD TO SHAW SAVILLE & CO IN 1876 BUT MANAGED BY P HENDERSON ( ALBION LINE )

SHE BELONGED TO SHAW SAVILL & ALBION IN 1883 ( THE TWO COMPANIES MERGED IN 1882 )

IN 1900 SHE WAS SOLD TO THE TASMANIAN TIMBER CORPORATION OF HOBART AND RE REGISTERED IN HOBART

IN 1901 SHE WAS SOLD TO THE BRITISH TRANSVALL & GENERAL FINANCE CO OF LONDON AND REREGISTERED IN LONDON

IN 1902 SHE WAS OWNED BY ARCHIBALD ROSS OF LONDON

IN 1903 SHE WAS OWNED BY THE MANICA TRADING CO ( UNION CATLE SUBSIDARY ) BUT WAS UNDER WALTER S LOW'S ( LONDON ) MANGEMENT 

SHE WAS SOLD TO A COMPANY IN LYTTLETON WHO THEN RESOLD HER TO CAPTAIN HOLM OF WELLINGTON  ( I AM NOT SURE AS TO WHEN THIS OCCURRED, POSSIBLY IT WAS JUST BEFORE SHE WENT TO THE TASMANIAN COMPANY )

 CONFLICTING EVIDENCE OF HER  OWNERSHIP IN 1900 AS SOME SOURCES SAY SHE WAS  OWNED BY MANICA TRADING CO OF LONDON BUT POINT OF FACT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL 1903

IN 1903 SHE WAS RE RIGGED AS A BARQUE

SHE LEFT COLONIA ( RIVER PLATE ) BOUND FOR ENGLAND CARRYING GRAIN WHEN  ON 26TH MARCH 1905 AND RAN AGROUND ON FAROLLAN REEF.SHE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DAMAGE. SO SHE WAS ABANDONED ( PILOT WAS ONBOARD AT THE TIME ) AND BECAME A TOTAL LOSS
