IN 1864 SHE WAS  OWNED BY T H ISMAY ( MAYBE CHARTERED )

SHE WAS OWNED BY FERNI OF LIVERPOOL 1871-1879

SHE WAS OWNED BY HOWDEN OF LIVERPOOL 1880

IN 1873 SHE WAS UNDER THE WHITE STAR LINE FLAG

SHE WENT MISSING IN 1899 HER LAST KNOWN POSITION WAS OF THE COAST OF BRAZIL IN POSITION 3.0 SOUTH 32.0 WEST

SHE WAS DELETED FROM THE REGISTRY IN 1900

 


THERE WERE SEVERAL SHIPS WHICH HAVE BOURNE THE NAME 'KNIGHT COMMANDER' SOME BEING IN SERVICE AT THE SAME TIME WHICH MAKES RESEARCH DIFFICULT - THE BELOW SHIPS  HAD NO CONNECTION TO THE WHITE STAR LINE AS FAR AS I AM AWARE - FOR REFERENCE ONLY

 KNIGHT COMMANDER AN IRON VESSEL BUILT IN DUBLIN 1864 FOR FERRIS OF LIVERPOOL. SHE WAS REGISTERED IN LIVERPOOL AND ALWAYS CLASSED AS AN UNLUCKY VESSEL 

SHE WAS CONVERTED TO THAT OF  A BARQUE ( RIGGED AS SUCH WHEN SHE LOST HER MASTS IN A STORM )

SHE LEFT ANTWERP IN FEBRUARY  1891 AND PUT INTO PORT STANLEY ON  JULY 3 1891

 REPORTS THAT SHE FOUNDERED OF FOUNDERED OFF CAPE HORN

CAPTAIN BELL COMMANDED

THERE IS ANOTHER REFERENCE TO HER BEING BUILT IN 1868 AND THAT SHE WAS NOT PURCHASED BY CARLYLE & CO OF LONDON UNTIL  1870 AND THEN RENAMED BRITISH COMMODORE

IN 1882 SHE WAS SOLD TO PARRY & JONES OF LIVERPOOL

IN 1898 SHE WAS SOLD TO CHILE AND LATER USED AS A HULK
