GLENROSA WAS A THREE MASTED IRON VESSEL OF 869 TONS. SHE WAS BUILT IN 1875 BY S B & ENG CO OF LONDON & GLASGOW AND WAS OWNED BY HENRY MARTINI & CO BEING REGISTERED IN GLASGOW.
SHE WAS LATER DOWN GRADED TO A BARQUE IN 1881.
SHE STRANDED ON JANUARY 18TH 1890 ON CAPE BANKS, SOUTH AUSTRALIA DUE TO HEAVY FOG. IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO RE-FLOAT HER AND SHE BECAME A WRECK. SHE WAS CARRYING A CREW OF 17.SHE HAD BEEN COMMANDED BY CAPTAIN HUGH McEWAN ( IN 1885 SHE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN OWNED BY CAPTAIN McEWAN )
SHE HAD BEEN ON A VOYAGE FROM THE UK TO BRISBANE AT THE TIME SHE STRANDED.
SHE WAS CHARTERED BY SHAW SAVILL & CO IN 1884 AND DID A VOYAGE DOWN TO AUCKLAND UNDER THE COMMAND OF CAPTAIN McEWAN ARRIVING ON 28TH JUNE HAVING LEFT THE UK ON MARCH 19TH. A ROUGH PASSAGE DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER
