SUTLEJ WAS AN IRON SHIP OF 1,712 TONS BUILT IN 1888 BY RUSSEL & CO OF PORT GLASGOW SHE WAS OWNED BY FOLEY & CO AND HAD BEEN REGISTERED IN LONDON
SHE WAS SOLD IN 1907 TO AN ITALIAN COMPANY & RENAMED ANTARES.
SHE WAS WRECKED IN 1914 OF THE COAST OF VICTORIA HAVING STRUCK THE BASE OF A HIGH CLIFF AND SANK WITH THE ENTIRE CREW LOSING THEIR LIVES. SHE HAD BEEN ON A VOYAGE FROM MARSEILLES TO MELBOURNE. THE ABOVE PICTURE IS POSITIVLY IDENTIFIED AS BEING THAT OF SUTLEJ - FOR REFERENCE ONLY SHE HAD NO SHAW SAVILL CONECTION AS FAR AS I AM AWARE

AFTER HER LAUNCH SHE WAS UNDER THE COMMAND OF CAPTAIN A LEWIS FOR NINE YEARS

IN 1879 SHE SAILED FROM LONDON TO DUNEDIN AND AGAIN SUFFERED DAMAGE DUE TO SEVERE WETHER IN THE CHANNEL AND HAD TO PUT INTO DUNGENESS FOR REPAIRS
WENT MISSING 12TH NOVEMBER 1910. SHE WAS THEN UNDER THE NORWEGIAN FLAG
